Website for the organization Friends of the Nike Site Summit (FONSS) that is a community organization in Anchorage, Alaska dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Nike Site Summit, a former Nike Missile Site on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in the hills above the city. FONSS formed in 2007 to advocate for the preservation of Nike Site Summit as a memorial to the thousands of men and women that served during the Cold War. They are partnered with the the Alaska Association for Historic Preservation.

The Legacy Project contains interviews recorded in 2004 with residents living in communities in northern Alaska where Distance Early Warning (DEW) Line stations were located. Interviews were conducted by Karlene Leeper, archaeologist and Cultural Resources Manager at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, and by Jenny Brower and Martha Neakok of the North Slope Borough’s Iñupiat History, Language and Culture Commission. Many of the interviews were conducted in Iñupiaq. The recordings and English summaries are available in the collections of the Iñupiat Heritage Center in Utqiagvik, Alaska. Some of the interviews in the collection include: Issac Akootchook and Mary Ann Warden, Kaktovik; Irving Igtanloc and Raymond Neakok, Sr., Utqiaġvik; James Aiken, Sr. and Harold Ivanoff, Atqasuk; Gregg Tagarook, Sr., Wainwright; George Killbear, Point Lay; and Ronald Snyder, North Pole.

Transcript of an oral history interview with Roger Cote` on July 22, 2004 by Mary Rasa of the National Park Service. He served with the 51st Air Defense Artillery (ADA) from 1968-69. Interview was done for the Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area, National Park Service, but in it Mr. Cote' also talks about air defense stations in Alaska. The interview was transcribed by Mary Rasa, 2011. Pdf copy of the transcript was provided to this project by Jim Biles.

Site Point: The Last AADCP of the Last Operational U.S. Nike-Hercules Missile Battalion is a website about the history of the Nike Hercules missile site called Site Point located in Anchorage, Alaska. It is written from the perspective of a soldier that lived and worked there from January 1977 until the unit was deactivated in July 1979. He put the website together in 2003 because he felt there was a lack evidence that the place ever existed and little documentation about its history, and he wanted to record his memories for posterity.
