Description:
The Grumman canoe loaded with supplies retrieved from the Nation River cabin for a winter in Eagle, Alaska. This shows the 6-inch transom extension that was commonly used on the Yukon River, allowing for shallow-water running and decreasing the motor drag. This was a fuel stop, transferring gasoline from a five gallon can into the red running tank. With the six horsepower motor, the trip from the Nation River to Eagle used about eight gallons of gas.
