Description:
Maurice Newman's father, William Newman. He hauled mail by dogteam from Holy Cross to Marshall, Alaska, circa 1920s. He carried a fiddle and record player so he could play music at dances in communities along the way. They would hang a lantern up in town as a signal that there would be a dance that night.
