Description:
Errol Wilson and Seymour Abel in the front of Brad Snow's canoe. They were heading up the Yukon River from George Moore's camp at Andrew Creek, which was across the Yukon from the mouth of the Charley River. Break-up along the Yukon River was dramatic that year. George Moore and his family experienced the worst of this break-up when the Yukon River ice jammed, sending the entire river, ice blocks and all, through their dooryard and floating their cabin eight feet off its base logs. They were left riding out the current, up and over the blocks of ice, in their small skiff that was precariously tied by a piece of cotton clothesline to a bending spruce tree.
