Description:
On the trail looking north to Calico Bluff during a spring dog mushing trip from Eagle, Alaska heading down the Yukon River. Better trails often were off the river to avoid rough ice conditions and to provide shelter from the wind, which could blow snow over the trail, and to shorten the distance by cutting off large bends.
Listen to Brad Snow talk about the photo.
