Sidney Huntington was interviewed in April 1996 by Mike Spindler in Galena, Alaska for the Raven's Story radio series on KIYU-AM public radio station in Galena, Alaska. In this first part of a two part interview, Sidney talks about living off the land according to a traditional subsistence lifestyle based on hunting, trapping, and fishing. He discusses hunting geese and ducks, berry picking, trapping beaver and muskrat, and fishing for pike, whitefish and salmon. He also talks about the effects of wildland fires.
