Susan Larrabee

Susan Larrabee was born in Riverhead, New York in 1963, and moved to Delta Junction, Alaska in August of 1972. She graduated from Delta High School in 1981, and moved to Fairbanks in September 1981 to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Susan received a bachelor's degree in history from UAF and wrote a senior thesis on the history of the Alaska Highway. Her MA thesis at UAF titled "We Drove the Alaska Highway: Romanticizing the Road North" is about how the Alaska Highway has drawn people North for a frontier adventure. In 2009, she was beginning a Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada focused on the influence of the United States on the history of the Yukon Territory, Canada, with the construction of the Alaska Highway being one of the biggest influences the U.S. has had on the Yukon. Susan is currently an affiliated faculty instructor and adjunct professor with the History Department at UAF.
