Kristina Ahlnäes

Kristina Ahlnäes

Originally from Sweden, Kristina Ahlnäes came to Alaska in the 1970s and worked at the Institute of Marine Sciences and the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She worked at the Geophysical Institute from 1973 to 1999 as a remote sensing specialist who studied physical oceanography and marine geology. In 2000, she participated in the morning storytelling session at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and shared some of her memories of working there in the early years. In 2013, Kristina published a memoir titled, Kristina's Cache: A Memoir of Adventure and Survival in Alaska.
