Annette Heckart

Originally from Wisconsin and Georgia, Annette Heckart came to Alaska in 1993, after graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in biology. She was a summer volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service. She currently is the Regional Program Manager for Interpretation and Conservation Education for the Alaska Region of the U.S. Forest Service based in Anchorage, Alaska. In this role, she helps with public education outreach projects about the Iditarod National Historic Trail, since part of the trail goes through the Chugach National Forest. Annette also helped develop, plan, and teach in the Iditarod Trail in Every Classroom (iREC!) program, which is a professional development program for K-12 teachers based on the application of place-based and service learning techniques.
