Lodgepole Pine (also known as Shore Pine) is one of the main types of trees that grows in the coastal rainforest of Southeast Alaska. Barbara Johnson, Tlingit of Yakutat, Alaska, mentioned the use of pine as traditional medicine. It is unclear whether she actually was referring to lodgepole pine or if she meant sitka spruce or western hemlock, which are the other main types of trees in Southeast Alaska.
