Arnica is a flowering plant in the daisy family (Asteraceae). There are many types of arnicas (Arnica spp.) in Alaska that vary based on the region they grow, ranging from meadows to alpine regions. They all produce rich yellow blooms. Arnica is available in health food stores to treat muscle pain, but also the flowers and other plant parts are used in traditional medicines.
