Sarah Trainor

Sarah Trainor is an associate professor with a focus on fire and drought at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and is the Director of the Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy and Alaska Fire Science Consortium, where she specializes in communicating scientific information about climate change and its impacts to diverse stakeholder audiences. Sarah is an expert in climate change assessment and adaptation in Alaska, and her research interests include human dimensions of global change, especially in the Arctic and northern latitudes, and interdisciplinary assessment of ecosystem change and impacts to mixed subsistence economies in rural Alaska.

Sarah Trainor	Sarah Trainor gave a presentation on February 16, 2010 to the Stakeholders and Climate Change Meeting at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Fairbanks, Alaska. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together local experts and scientists to discuss issues related to climate change. Scientists gave presentations addressing some of the issues raised in the communities about impacts to their subsistence livelihoods. In this presentation, titled "Climate Change and Fire in Alaska," Sarah summarizes the status and future projections for fire in Interior Alaska and tools available for local communities confronted with climate change.
