Matthew Druckenmiller

Matthew Druckenmiller earned his Ph.D in Snow, Ice and Permafrost Geophysics from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2011 where he studied sea ice dynamics and local traditional knowledge near Barrow, Alaska. His dissertation is titled Alaska Shorefast Ice: Interfacing Geophysics With Local Sea Ice Knowledge and Use. As part of his research, Matt conducted interviews with Inupiat whalers about seasonal and changing ice conditions. Some of these interviews are included in the Northern Alaska Sea Ice Project Jukebox. Matt also has done research on northern sea ice at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSDIC) at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the U.S. Agency for International Development's GeoCenter in Washington, DC.
