Bobby Vent

Bobby Vent

Bobby Vent was a Koyukon Athabascan elder from Huslia, Alaska. He was born in October 1913, grew up near Anvik, and attended the Holy Cross Mission school in Holy Cross. He later moved to Huslia. Bobby was known as one of the original "Huslia Hustlers", a group of men from the Koyukuk River region who were quite successful at raising winning racing sled dogs. He ran dogs in the early Iditarod International Sled Dog Race and the North American Championship Sled Dog Race,and came in second in the 1973 Iditarod. Bobby had a reputation for raising tough, strong, and champion sled dogs. Bobby was married to Mary Vent.
