Arne Erickson's Diary Story Map

An interactive digital Story Map based on the transcript of Arne Erickson's diary from his 1920 trip with friend Oscar, starting in Flat, Alaska on October 28 and arriving in Anchorage on November 18, a distance of 350 miles. This diary testifies to the hardiness of the pioneers who thought nothing of walking long distances across the wilderness of Alaska. Made available the Iditarod Historic Trail Alliance.

The recordings and transcripts are archived at the Oral History Program, Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Alaska State Library, Juneau, Alaska. Information about the collection can be viewed in Rasmuson Library's online catalog. The recordings can be listened to at the Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) website.
