Fairbanks suffered a devasting flood in 1967. As one of the highest points of land in the area, UAF volunteered residence halls, the gymnasium and food services to help the thousands of citizens forced from their homes. The only means of transport throughout Fairbanks was by riverboat. Here evacuees climb the stairs to UAF at the corner of College Road and University Ave.
